Job Summary:

We are looking for a bright and eager Junior Azure Data Analyst to join our data team in Chennai. This role is ideal for a recent graduate or an early-career professional with 0-3 years of experience and a solid understanding of database concepts and ETL processes, particularly within the Microsoft ecosystem. You will provide technical assistance for our data and analytics products, which are built on Microsoft technologies. Additionally, you will assist in transforming data into valuable insights using your analytical abilities, familiarity with Azure data services, and proficiency in SQL, Python.  This entry-level role requires a foundational understanding of databases (MS SQL preferred), data concepts, and basic analytical skills. You will utilize your SQL knowledge to investigate data-related issues and your communication skills to support our users effectively. Responsibilities

• Assist in developing and maintaining data pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, SSIS, or custom Python scripts.
• Perform data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) between on-premises and cloud sources (e.g., MS SQL Server, Azure Blob Storage).
• Help monitor pipeline performance, troubleshoot failures, and ensure timely data availability.
• Support database operations including backup/restore, health checks, and schema documentation.
• Use SQL to query and manipulate data from Microsoft SQL Server and Azure-based data stores.
• Develop basic reports and dashboards using Power BI, under the guidance of senior team members.
• Contribute to the design and upkeep of data models within the Azure environment.
• Document data processes and reporting solutions for internal use.
• Configure / manage monitoring tools like Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights.
• Analyse logs and telemetry data to detect performance issues and system trends.
• Participating in incident response and root cause analysis for data and infrastructure disruptions.
• Provide first-line technical support for data and analytics products across communication channels.
• Investigate user-reported issues using SQL queries to identify and resolve data-related problems.
• Clearly document the support interactions, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions.
• Maintain clear and concise documentation for solutions, pipelines, and monitoring standards.
• Share best practices and contribute to knowledge bases to support team learning and operational efficiency.
• Work closely with senior analysts and engineers to understand business requirements and contribute to data-driven solutions.
• Communicate findings and progress effectively within the team.
• Continuously upskill in Azure data services, ETL tools, and analytical techniques.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• 6 months – 4 years of relevant experience in cloud monitoring, ETL, or data engineering.
• Familiarity with:
  • Azure Data Factory, Azure Monitor, and Azure SQL Database
  • SQL Server (T-SQL) and basic Python scripting
• Good understanding of data flow concepts and monitoring needs in production environments.
• Analytical mindset with attention to performance and operational excellence.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field.
• 0-2 years of relevant experience or strong academic knowledge of database systems and data warehousing concepts.
• Decent understanding of relational databases and the ability to write basic to intermediate SQL queries.
• Familiarity with ETL concepts and ideally some exposure to Azure Data Factory or similar tools.
• Foundational knowledge of Microsoft Azure data services (e.g., Azure SQL Database, Azure Data Factory).
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Willingness to learn and work collaboratively within a team.
